Description
Requirements
1. Role Purpose
Own and improve the operational health, data quality, performance and maintainability of a mission-critical Oracle Siebel CRM estate and its connected BSS ecosystem. The role combines application-level understanding with advanced SQL/PL/SQL and Oracle database skills. It is expected to diagnose complex production problems, safely correct data, support migrations and upgrades, optimize catalogue configuration, and translate business or operational issues into controlled technical solutions.
2. Core Accountabilities
Siebel product catalogue configuration, cleanup and improvement
· Analyze the Siebel product model, customizable products, product relationships, attributes, eligibility rules, configuration constraints and catalogue metadata.
· Identify redundant, obsolete, duplicated, inconsistent or technically problematic product configuration and define controlled remediation plans.
· Improve Product Configurator usability and performance, including search behavior, product selection, model complexity and configuration execution time.
· Monitor catalogue changes and reconfiguration activity, establish technical checks, and support product simplification and catalogue governance initiatives.
· Assess the impact of catalogue changes on orders, assets, fulfilment, billing, integration and downstream reporting.
Complex data migrations and transformation
· Design and execute complex data migration, conversion and reconciliation activities across Siebel and connected platforms.
· Profile source data, define mapping and transformation rules, identify data-quality defects, and prepare correction or enrichment logic.
· Create staging, control and reconciliation structures, together with repeatable loading and rollback mechanisms.
· Support full-volume and incremental migration strategies, dry runs, cutover preparation, production loading, validation and post-load stabilization.
· Handle large datasets efficiently using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, SQL*Loader, parallel processing and controlled batch techniques.
Data patching, correction and recovery
· Investigate data anomalies and determine whether correction requires direct updates, controlled scripts, application operations or reprocessing.
· Design production-safe data patches with impact analysis, pre-validation, backup or recovery controls, traceable execution, verification and rollback.
· Build temporary or control tables to isolate affected records, preserve evidence and support reconciliation.
· Recalculate or repair affected records following faulty releases, integrations or business-rule defects.
· Coordinate data-fix deployment through formal change, defect and emergency-fix processes.
Data extraction and operational reporting
· Translate operational and business questions into reliable, performant SQL extracts from complex Siebel schemas.
· Validate the purpose, lawful use and security classification of requested extracts, particularly where customer or personal data is involved.
· Optimize full extracts and redesign them as incremental or change-based feeds where appropriate.
· Collaborate with Data Warehouse, reporting and consuming teams on source semantics, record selection, performance and reconciliation.
· Provide repeatable extraction logic, supporting documentation and evidence of completeness.
Oracle database engineering and performance
· Diagnose slow SQL, blocking sessions, execution-plan changes, full table scans, statistics issues, concurrency defects and resource contention.
· Review PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, triggers, views, materialized views and batch jobs, and recommend robust designs.
· Design partitioning, local indexing, retention, archival, reorganization and housekeeping strategies for high-volume tables.
· Assess database capacity and growth, analyze abnormal increases, and drive preventive actions before service impact.
· Support Oracle upgrades, cloud migration, resilience activities and database compatibility remediation.
Production operations, incident response and observability
· Act as a senior technical contributor during major incidents affecting Siebel, Order Management, BPM, integration or dependent services.
· Correlate application logs, Splunk telemetry, database sessions, SQL execution and infrastructure metrics to isolate root cause.
· Distinguish genuine service degradation from false-positive alerts and improve monitoring without reducing detection coverage.
· Validate recovery after restart, failover, patching or corrective action and define focused monitoring for recurrence.
· Produce clear technical findings, risks, workarounds and permanent-fix recommendations for operations and engineering stakeholders.
Automation, controls and technical governance
· Develop scripts and utilities for controlled loading, extraction, cleanup, monitoring, reconciliation and repetitive operational tasks.
· Apply secure credential handling, least privilege, auditability and controlled production execution.
· Review proposed solutions for scalability, production viability, error handling and rollback readiness.
· Contribute acceptance criteria, technical risk assessments, implementation plans and operational-readiness decisions.
· Coach application operations, maintenance and DBA teams through knowledge sharing and hands-on problem solving.
3. Typical Deliverables
· Siebel CRM catalogue cleanup assessments and remediation backlogs.
· Complex migration designs, mapping specifications and reconciliation reports.
· Production data-patch scripts, execution runbooks, rollback plans and validation evidence.
· Optimized SQL extracts, incremental-feed designs and source-data definitions.
· Performance investigations, execution-plan analysis and tuning recommendations.
· Partitioning, retention, archival and capacity-management plans.
· Incident technical assessments, root-cause inputs and permanent-fix proposals.
· Monitoring queries, dashboards, alert improvements and operational controls.
· Upgrade, patch and cloud-migration readiness assessments.
4. Required Experience/Skills
· Substantial hands-on experience supporting Oracle Siebel CRM in a large, integrated production environment.
· Demonstrable experience with Siebel product catalogue and Product Configurator configuration, diagnosis and optimization with scripting.
· Advanced Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including complex data analysis, packages, procedures, triggers, views and performance tuning.
· Experience designing and executing high-volume data migrations, data fixes, extracts and reconciliation controls.
· Experience with Oracle partitioning, indexing, statistics, execution plans, sessions, locking, storage and capacity management.
· Ability to work safely in production under formal incident, problem, release and change-management controls.
· Experience integrating Siebel with Order Management, billing, middleware, data platforms and downstream consumers.
· Ability to explain complex technical findings clearly to engineering, operations, business and management stakeholders.
· Ability to handle stress and resolve critical problems outside of business hours.
5. Preferred Experience/Skills
· Telecommunications BSS/OSS experience, including customer, account, service, asset, order, catalogue and billing data.
· Oracle 19c, RAC, Data Guard, OCI or equivalent enterprise Oracle infrastructure.
· Siebel EAI, workflows, business services, integration objects, object managers and server-component diagnostics.
· Splunk or comparable observability tooling.
· webMethods, BPM or enterprise order-management platforms.
· Data anonymization, subsetting and non-production environment refresh processes.
· Linux and Windows scripting, SQL*Loader, shell or PowerShell automation.
· Experience supporting major upgrades, platform migrations, resilience tests and cutovers.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in equivalent role
