Senior QA Automation Engineer, API & Desktop


Requirements

Assignment context

Greenfield quality-engineering assignment responsible for establishing a QA automation practice from the ground up. The resource will define the testing methodology and build automated frameworks for API services and Windows desktop applications, with execution and reporting integrated into enterprise CI/CD pipelines.  

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement a comprehensive QA strategy, testing methodology and automation roadmap.

• Structure and migrate existing test documentation into Jira and Xray.

• Automate SOAP, HTTP and REST API testing using the Karate Framework.

• Validate XML payloads and service contracts through XSD and WSDL-based controls

. • Automate end-to-end flows spanning multiple services and integration points.

• Develop functional UI automation for WinForms and WPF applications using FlaUI and WinAppDriver.

• Configure and maintain Jenkins pipelines executing API and desktop test suites on Windows virtual machines.

• Publish test results automatically to Jira and Xray and manage package dependencies through Artifactory. 

Mandatory requirements

• Minimum of five years of QA or software-testing experience, including at least three years in automation. • Advanced hands-on experience with the Karate Framework for REST and SOAP testing.

• Advanced knowledge of XML, XSD, WSDL, REST and HTTP, with working knowledge of SOAP and WCF.

• Practical desktop UI automation experience using FlaUI and/or WinAppDriver.

• Strong C# programming capability for test-automation development.

• Advanced experience with Jenkins, Bitbucket and Jira with Xray.

• Experience with Artifactory and Windows virtual-machine test environments.

• Ability to define standards and build a structured automation practice with limited existing foundations.

Preferred / differentiating requirements

• Experience establishing QA automation capabilities in an enterprise or regulated environment.

• Strong end-to-end integration-testing and automated-reporting experience.
